Christmas 2025

UK Embassy: older Brits in Spain

February 2026 update

The Foreign Office has updated its survey of the things that we need to take account of when growing older here.

In a page on the government website, they cover everything from medical care to finances to wills to funeral plans to going back to the UK.

AFPO recommend that you call up the page: Planning for later life as a British person in Spain. It's well worth reading!

Calpe elections (2023)

New Council (to 2027)

The new Calpe Council has now voted. For the next 4 years (in principle) Calpe will be run by a coalition of 3 parties, and Ana Sala, the current mayor, will continue in post.

The party with the most individual votes, the Partido Poplular, who wanted to force Ana Sala out, have instead been forced into opposition.
